Possession 1981 Movie Review | Obscured Psychological Horror Movie

Possession 1981 movie review

Director : Andrez Zulawski

Stoneeman.com – Are you a person who is very addicted to horror  films?  This time  stoneeman will  discuss one of the films with the  title of  cult classic  horror that  will give a horror  sensation that is different from other horror films.

Possession 1981 is a psychological horror drama film that has a very wild  narrative to be digested by   normal thoughts. Psychological Horror, which was worked on  by a  polish  director,  is indeed very wild and in addition to Possession 1981, Andrez Zulawski also  worked on The   Devil (1972  ), On The Silver Globe (1988) Both movies that   he  had previously worked on Garap is two of the best movies  with cult classic movie titles in the 1970's era.

Andrez Zulawski is one of the  directors who also pursued the  development of  cult classic movies in the old era.  Andrez Zulawski Director from  Poland also has   different characteristics in every work  on the  film, starting from the visuals, sound, and  also the narrative;    he made it in  a very exhibitionist form even more so  in his visual  cultivation.

From polish directors  I know like Wjociech Has & Roman Polanski In scena the film 'poland' has a very wild visual  & narrative, the  most distinguishing is the  visual  style found in polish films  has a unique distinctive & different sensation  from other directors.

Continuing to the  topic of our discussion  , namely possession 1981, Possession 1981 is the  only Andrez Zulawski film  that uses English because  the 1981 possession film collaborated with   the American novelist 'Frederic   Tuten', In working on the narrative  Andrez & Frederic collaborated to create a narrative that would shake the  psychological of  the audience.

Possession's  film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival  in  1981, the interesting thing is that this  film  was  banned in  several  countries because it   was disgusting to be watched by several groups of  people.   Inseparable from that for me this film  is still the  best cult classic horror in the  1980's, moreover  the  female actor who became the  antagonist of this film  was crowned as a cast member best in her role in this 1981 possession film, she is isabelle Adjani.

Synopsis & Explanation

Possession 1981 Movie Review | Obscured Psychological Horror Movie
Isabelle Adjani & Sam Neill

Before we enter the  synopsis of  this film,   first introduce the two characters who will play roles in this legendary psychological horror classic film  .  The two main characters in this film  are Isabelle Adjani  (Anna)  & Sam Neil (Mark).

Possession 1981 Movie Review | Obscured Psychological Horror Movie

The scene begins  with a meeting with Mark  who finally meets  his wife Anna who   wants to ask mark for a divorce  , With reasons that are not specific enough anna leaves mark and his son Bob who   is still very small.

Because the plot in this film is very  complicated to digest and there are so many   scenes  / scenes that  are not easy to understand because they have a very  deep  meaning between the  storyline & the roles of these two characters. With the nuances of psychological horror whose narrative plot is filled with mystery that can make our logic spin When watching it, Stoneeman will explain a little bit of the main plot of this film.

Possession 1981 Movie Review | Obscured Psychological Horror Movie

Possession 1981 is a  horror film  that can drain all our feelings and minds because of its very wild narrative, After Mark goes through a  bed split  with anna  mark discovers  that anna  has an affair with Heinrich ( Heinz  Bennent  ). Finally,        mark's  domestic condition with Anna became more heated and there were a lot of  violent scenes that could not be expressed by a series of words.

The situation between mark and anna which was already chaotic finally became even more strange because of  anna's behavior that made mark want to investigate,  mark's  investigation began When  mark  went to see Heinrich and got anna   no longer  With Heinrich.

As we have said above,  this psychological horror film  is the best, because it  has a very deep meaning  & meaning in a divorce that can damage all happiness in   alive.

Possession 1981 Movie Review | Obscured Psychological Horror Movie

Speaking of happiness, this 1981 possession  film  is the  film with the  cruelest  narrative stoneeman has ever  discussed.  Because  this film  is packaged into a horror  film, of course, the  story or  narrative in this film  cannot be separated from a sect or belief in Christians about the  power of the devil that has  exists in this world.

The depiction of the devil  in this   film  is also similar to  that of rosemary's baby ( 1968 ), Like a cult of movie  fans with satanic  elements in it, I honestly don't want to reveal this part   in  this discussion.  But if you want to find out the  similarities of the 1981  possession movie you can find it  in the 1968 film Rosemary's Baby.

Possession 1981 Movie Review | Obscured Psychological Horror Movie

As I  have said above that the  plot in the 1981 possession  is very difficult to  explain, even I  myself need to watch this film  repeatedly because  of the narrative  & also   the taking  The visuals in this film   really have a deep  meaning.

And not only that, in this 1981 possession film, there are also  scenes that will drain a  lot of  our emotions and feelings.   Like  the scene  above isabelle is being filled with anger like a trance.    Isabelle Adjani's  perfomance above was one of the  wildest  moments where she earned the  title of the best performer of this 1981 possession film.

Conclusion & Self Interpretation

For me Psychological Horror like possession 1981 is a  new formula for the  application of psychological horror this year, And indeed this 1981 possession  managed to become a film that was loved by   cults/cultists  cult classic horror   because it has a different horror characteristic and sensation.

Films like possession 1981  are  psychological horror films  that are hidden from the  public   because this film  can be said to be  an underatted film because of the  use of a budget that is not too large, unlike   a boxoffice movie that  we will very easily meet in public.

And also from this film we can also learn that divorce is something very scary if it happens / happens to us in real life, This film is a depiction that is so real & creepy if the narrative in this film is indeed depicted for someone's suffering if they experience a divorce in a family relationship that they have built.

Schindler's List Movie Review & Summary | Stoneeman Review

Schindler's List Movie Review & Summary | Stoneeman Review

Schindler's List ( 1993 ) Movie Review

Schindler's List ( 1993 ) Movie Review

Stoneeman.com - Who doesn't know Schindler's List 1993, This is a historical war movie for the world, moreover, the war is very heartbreaking if remembered for the American camp. Because the storytelling conveys the atrocities committed by humans in the 2nd world global war Precisely tells the story of Nazi ( German ) atrocities  Against Jews ( American citizenship ). This Schindle's List movie is one of the works of a well-known veteran senior director, moreover, his name has received a lot of awards and moreover he is the Co-Founder of Dreamworks Studio, he is Steven Alan Spielberg. There have been a lot of movies made by him that have received many awards, especially Schindler's List is one of his works that has received awards and rankings on the Greatest Films Ever Made list.

Schindler's List is apparently the result of an adaptation of a novel written by Thomas Keneally with the title Schindler's Ark which was released in 1982, No wonder the film Epic is apparently the result of an adaptation of a historical novel that is also epic in terms of writing a realist narrative, this novel can be categorized as a Biographical novel because it raises and tells one of the famous German characters, namely Oskar Schindler.

Of the many films about atrocities committed by the Nazis (Germans) such as Playing For Time ( 1980 )  By Daniel Mann, Life Is Beatiful ( 1997 ), The Pianist ( 2002 ), The Diary Of Anne Frank ( 1959 )  And many more, it turns out that Schindler's List was put in the first row of the Best Holocaust Movie award list. Why can it be put in the first row? Perhaps because the storytelling is very heartbreaking and the depiction of the situation is made to resemble the same as the events of world war 2 and raises the name of a character, Oskar Schindler as his heroic main character and also perhaps because of his visual depiction made in Black and White as a sign that this film is one of the Dark Drama-historical Movies.

Schindler's List itself is honestly not just an ordinary historical drama film worked on by Steven Spielberg, Because in the delivery of the story in his film there are many meanings and subjects that are too broad accompanied by a tragic disaster for the Jews, From the narrative scheme created by Steven it seems that he made a storyline that can be digested very well,  In his method, he not only focused the storyline of this movie on the Holocaust, but Steven combined and made the storyline in this film really very detailed and we as an audience can easily understand the elements of humanity, the advantages that can be taken when war occurs (Profit of War), Tragedy of humanity that takes place, Mental disorders accompanied by psychology experienced when the war lasts,  and many more visualized by Steven for us to watch in his film.

Apart from that, the film with the main actor who played Oskar Schindler's in  this film is  Liam Neeson ( Oskar ) who has received many award certificates for his achievements in competing in the film world, Who does not know him he is a famous senior actor who is still in demand today.

Talking about Oskar Schindler's character in this movie is as honest as he is a short-sighted person and is someone who took advantage of the opportunity while the second world war was going on, He was a german who used war as a substance to gain an advantage. He opened an industrial factory when all the jews in Poland were being invaded by the Germans ( Nazis ) and he took advantage of the jewish workers for a small fee who later without the knowledge of oskar who was notably a member of the nazi party who defected to his people because his sympathy for the jewish workers touched his human conscience and historically he was a german who saved 1,200 jewish lives from the tragedy of the massacre  Holocaust perpetrated by the Nazis.

****

The film opens with a group of Jewish families praying at the dinner table in their language and then the visuals on the film transition from colorful to Black-and-White. This is where Steven uses his intellectuals in interpreting Schindler's Ark novels  in a different way. Of the several films that tell the same story about the Holocaust, it is Schindler's List that I think is the most complete and understandable storyline in discussing the history of nazi atrocities at that time.

After the visuals transitioned to black-and-white, the Scene turned a little dramatic as the Germans successfully invaded Poland in 1939 by defeating the Polish army in two weeks. In this scene, the german army ordered all Polish residents of Jewish blood or descent to be recorded which later all the recorded population would be relocated to a concentration camp of Jewish prisoners, namely dikrakow.

****

Then Scene changed to Oskar Schindler's a business man who attended a Nazi Party with the aim of bribing the higher-ups so that he could be facilitated later with the opportunity to open an industrial business in a war situation. He was a man who took advantage of profits during the war, When the nazi soldiers focused on judging the jews, Oskar Schindler's seized the moment to hire jewish prisoners as his workers in the industrial factories he owned.

In this scene, Actor Liam Neeson deserves 4 thumbs up in his performance playing oskar schindler's who looks very authoritative and dignified in his performance playing schindler's.

****

In the next scene After Oskar Schindler's managed to bribe the nazi higher-ups, Then Scene changed to a more serious script by showing jews being treated inhumanely by german soldiers and of course the main character, Oskar Schindler, was in the middle of the ongoing events at the time, When he visited a building of a special complaints agency for jewish residents in poland. Oskar visited there to meet Itzhak Stern (Ben Kingsley) a learned Jew who had experience in accounting, Oskar appointed him as his assistant to help him run his business during the war.

In this scene we can know and learn how to do business that oskar schindler's did during the war, He made a contract to the german army so that oskar could take some jewish workers to work for him, And not only that here we will be shown that the power of money was already in force at that time even before that money had considerable power or impact on human development during the war.

****

This is where I think the greatness of thinking in the scripting done by steven spielberg must be thumbs up, He makes the character of Oskar Schindler's begin as if he were a protagonist who took advantage of the opportunity to make a big profit during the war, But after that in the middle of the film we can see a change in disposition from oskar who had a purpose behind hiring jewish prisoners then turned into  a rescuer who defected from german to protect his Jewish workers from being taken to Camp concentration to be killed.

In addition, Liam Neeson's acting turned into a good character and has a close relationship like his best friend with his assistant, Itzhak Stern, makes the nuances of this film even more sad due to the Chemistry between Oskar and Itzhak.

Conclusion:

And even more so what makes this film included in the list of Greatest Films Ever Made!  perhaps because there are several scenes or scenes that highlight the sexuality and violence committed by the german against the jews which is highlighted in the form of satire ( satire ) And also tells the heroic story of Oskar Schindler's who sacrificed his money to save thousands of jewish lives. Not only that, in my opinion, what makes this film look like a commercial film is because there are no scenes of the war between the German Army and the Army from the allied camps from america, but Schindler's List is packaged as a drama of saving the Jews that Oskar did and shows the true reality that happened to both sides while the war was going on.

The film, which lasts 3 hours and 15 minutes, will certainly change the mood of the audience to sadless mode, It is certain that you will be totally sadless made into this historical drama film because the ending is also packed with saddest.

At first, at first glance, this movie was a biography because the storytelling style in this movie was divided into 2 directions, namely Present time and past time which focused on the life process of Ben Willis (the main character). But it turns out that this is all the result of a thought written by Sean Ellis himself. Two Evil Eyes 1990 Review movie | Best 90's Cult Classic Horror Movies

November 11, 2022 0
Two Evil Eyes 1990 Review movie | Best 90's Cult Classic Horror Movies

Two Evil Eyes 1990 poster movie, review movie

Two Evil Eyes 1990 Review & Explanation

Directors : George A. Romero & Dario Argento

Two Evil Eyes 1990 is a psychological horror that uses the concept of film anthology. This two evil eyes film  is also included in the  cult classic movie  class, with psychological horror elements/genres that managed to grab the  views of cult classic  horror movie  lovers in the 1990's.

Movie Two evil  eyes 1990 is a  film with the  concept of anthology,The cultivator of the  movie two evils eyes itself is George A.Romero & Dario Argento who collaborated on the creation of the best  psychological horror  in  the 1990's,  Degan   two different  narrative plots, namely " The  Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar" worked on  by George & starring the  horror actor  of  the legend  of the golden year,  Adrienne Barbeau, and  the second narrative entitled "The Black Cat"  was  worked on  by Dario Argento and starring  Harvey Keitel.

The two different narratives  are adapted from a short  novel written by  a novelist & poetry  who  was  given the title of figure of romanticism in the  18th century, he was Edgar Allan Poe.

The 1990 two evil eyes movie is  a psychological horror  movie that  has been named a cult classic horror movie because the narrative and visuals  in this  film were   carefully worked on by George & Dario, both directors are also  cultivators  which also played a  role in the  development of cult classic horror movies in  the 1990's, Just like Brain Dead 1992 which was worked on by petter Jackson.Brain Dead  is  a film that  is as old as the   same  1990 Two evil eyes    – the same has a distinctive work on  horror classics that flourished in the  1990's.

Synopsis & Explanation

This movie is   divided into  two different  storylines  with the same elements  and uses suspense  elements whose  level of tension is also the same, usually movies that use the  concept of film anthology such as  This has a difference in the tension that hangs if the  first storyline is  different from the second   storyline.  But Two evil eyes 1990's was  carefully worked on  by a duo director who had the title  of cult classic horror cultivator in the  1990's.   The 1990 Two Evil eyes  film was not the result of the  first collaboration between the two of  them, In  1978 George & Argento had collaborated well  on the film Dawn of The Dead.

This duo director   does have a different signature that also enlivens the development of cult classic horror movies to date.

The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar

The fact in the case  of M.Valdemar is the  title of the  prologue  of the   first storyline  of psychological horror which  will later be played by  the legendary cult classic horror actor   Adrienne Barbeau.

Adrienne Barbeau Movie
Adrienne Barbeau

If you are one of the  fans of cult classic horror movies, of course you   are familiar with this senior actor.   Adrenne Barbeau  is  a legendary actor  who was active from the 1970's and is one of the  actors who  has appeared in many films – the horror classic films of the   1970's  until now  is actually  her  face  It is still widely used in horror   films, just because now this senior actor  is aging,  he only appears as a side character in horror films today.

Back to the topic, The film  opens with the  character Adrienne who is riding a  taxi to  go to  a bank, in a taxi    Adrienne is training her acting so that  she can deceive the bank     to get  agreed to the  application for  taking money in the name of the  old husband she married. Well, actually, this psychological Horror  narrative is  not  complicated to understand because  I think the  fictional script  in this film  tells about a reality. which actually happens a lot in the reality of human life.

I think George  is very smart  in adapting the  narrative of the short novel made  by  Edgar, George makes this film  more mature  in dramatic  horror elements by making visuals, sound effects + property/ Wardobe is like a cult classic horror movie  in  the 1970's.

The Black Cat ( Diadaptasi dari short novel Edgar Allan Poe )

As  I explained above, this film is divided into  two different storylines. The first prologue   entitled The  fact in the case of M.Valdemar was worked on by  George A.Romero, while the  second narrative entitled 'The Black Cat'  was worked on by Dario Argento.

Even   though the    storyline is different  and worked on by  two different directors,  the synergy  or atmosphere of tension contained in the film with the two titles  still provides tension / sensation creepy  the same – just as bitter.

Harvey Keitel Movies
Harvey Keitel

If in terms of title &  narrative  it is different, in casting the black cat itself uses a different character  also from the narrative of  the first film  . Here we can find one of  the  actor legends who  appeared in many films  – cult classic films from the early  1970's to the 2000's, he was Harvey Keitel.

This senior  actor is the main character  in   the  second story of the  prologue of the psychological horror film two evil eyes 1990, Here Harvey plays the main character as a villain where  he is motivated to do things    cruel because of his work as a crime scene photographer in the police force.   Against    the backdrop of  his work that is always related to  murder, Harvey Keitel suddenly becomes a  somber man   and starts doing cruel things  to cats his wife's pet  black.

The movie that  Dario  argento worked on is very carefully set-up and the use of visual effects and backing sound effects can make a thrilling sensation.  Two evil eyes 1990 was indeed worked on by  different directors,  usually   if 2 short films  are made into one with different  cultivators   there will usually be  a difference in tension When  Watching it, especially since Two Evil Eyes 1990 is a mystery film with psychological/suspense  elements. These two short films  with  different   titles have the  same  horror  sensation – equally tense, Two evil eyes are successfully classified as one of  the cult classic horror movies  Because two  crazy cultivators collaborated so well to create a new signature in  the Rana Cult Classic Horror movie in the  1990's.

I highly recommend this  movie   as a cult classic movie that  is suitable for you to enjoy in the middle of the night.
